Dr. Karen Miller is a researcher in the Safeguards Science & Technology Group at Los Alamos National Laboratory. She has a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M University, where her graduate work was focused on algorithm development and optimization methods for distributed radiation sensors. Today, Dr. Miller specializes in the design and field deployment of radiation detection systems for international safeguards. Her research interests include applied detection technology, multi-sensor data fusion, and data visualization. Notably, her work has been featured in Science magazine, and she received the 2014 INMM Early Career Award. In addition to her research, Dr. Miller also teaches courses for IAEA inspectors.
